020 Tambopata Rainforest to Machu Picchu

from 6,300.00

The journey to this protected area provides easy access to the wildlife habitats of the forest and the extraordinary biodiversity of Tambopata National Reserve.

Getting the opportunity to explore the forest lake system by canoe or along narrow trails is a lifechanging experience. Much of the area’s abundant fauna lives on or near these water sources. Aside from the more than 500 species of birds recorded in the Reserve, the lakes are home to giant otters and black caiman as well. Formed by over 1400 individual plant species, these forests also house 13 species of monkeys, 1200 species of butterflies, 60 kinds of amphibians and more than 100 types of mammals, with the solitary jaguar standing at the head of an infinitely complex food chain.

The exploration continues through the Sacred Valley where you visit the main Incan sites such as the Pisac archaeological complex, the artisans market in the downtown plaza and the well-preserved site of Ollantaytambo. The tour culminates with a visit to the center of the Incan Empire: Machu Picchu!
